R. STEPHEN ELLIS, D.D.S. received his undergraduate degree at the University of Mississippi in 1971 and was awarded a masters degree in Microbiology at the University Medical Center in Jackson, MS, in 1973. Dr. Ellis graduated from the University of Tennessee Dental School in 1976 and returned to his hometown of Laurel, MS, to begin his dental practice and has practiced in the North Laurel Area since that time. The practice moved to its present location in 2000.

Dr. Ellis is involved in several dental organizations and study clubs, including the American Dental Association and the Mississippi Dental Asociation.He is past president of the Laurel Area Dental Society. Dr. Ellis has completed numerous hours of continuing education in all phases of Denistry. He is also very proud of the community in which he lives and has served on various community projects and as an officer and member of several local service organizations. Dr. Ellis is an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he serves as an elder.

Dr. Ellis and his wife Judy, have two grown daughters, Mary Elizabeth and her husband, Charlie Day, live in California. Their youngest daughter, Rebecca, lives in Dallas. This gives Steve and Judy reason to burn up the highways. Also, don't forget Lucy... sworn to be the greatest dog ever.

Personal interests include playing tennis, fishing, attending sport events and adding to his collection of Civil War memorabilia.

FRED I. WALTERS, Jr., D. D. S. joined our practice in 1998. He is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of Tennessee School of Dentistry. Fred is married to the former Ginger Walker and they have one son, Sam. The family enjoys two schnauzers, Ellie Mae and Rubie.

Dr. Walters has served as the secretary / treasurer of the Laurel Area Dental Society for the past two years. He is involved with several community activities. Fred is currently serving as an officer with the Kiwanis Club of Laurel, so you may see him on Pancake day! Fred and Ginger are members of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

One of Dr. Walters' specialties is taking care of children. He is usually able to meet the needs of children without having to send them to a specialist. He also, is proud of our annual Back-to-School Skate Party for children 12 years and under. In this way, we are able to give something back to the children that make our jobs so enjoyable.

In his spare time, Fred enjoys spending time with his family, golfing and reading.

Jenny - Dental Hygienist - has a B.S. degree in Health and Human Sciences from the University of Southern Mississippi and an associates degree in Dental Hygiene from Pearl River Community College. She has been with us for over ten years. Jenny is married to Brad Thompson and they have two children, Walker and LeighEllen. They attend First Baptist Church of Laurel. She enjoys attending all types of sporting events, hanging out at her parent's camp on the coast, boat riding and chasing two little ones around.

Vickie - Dental Hygienist - has been with Ellis and Walters Dental Care for 22+ years. After finishing school at UMC School of Health Related Professions, she returned to Laurel and married Chief Hatfield. They have two children, Caroline and Rob. Vickie has served on the board of the Laurel Swim Association and participates in the Laurel Arts League. She enjoys needlepointing, going fishing, cooking and reading. Vickie and her family are members of Life Church and live in the Shady Grove community.

Shauna - Dental Hygienist - has an associates degree in dental hygiene from Pearl River Community College. She has been with us off and on for over 10 years. Shauna began with us as a dental assistant; then went to part-time but now is on board full-time! She is married to Brent Rustin and they have one daughter, Emma Grace. They attend Indian Springs Baptist Church. In her spare time, Shauna enjoys going to the beach, gardening and being with family.

Terry - Dental Hygienist - has her dental hygiene degree from Pearl River Community College. She has been working with us for over 7 years and has been a patient here for nearly 30 years!! Terry is married to William Powell and they have five children, Frankie, Peggy, Roger, Carter and Kane. She is an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Terry enjoys canoeing, reading, cooking, and watching football.

This is our friendly Office Staff. These four ladies are more than happy not only to make you feel at home but make you feel as a part of our family.

Our Dental Assistants are the best in the area. They are very proficient in their tasks, job-knowledge but above all else, they are very caring individuals.

Jan - Business Coordinator - is working on her 22nd year as part of the original team. She is our receptionist and business coordinator. Jan is genuinely glad to see you walk in the front door or answer your phone call! She and her husband, Greg Walters are actively involved with their two daughters, Wendy and Haley, enjoying softball, tennis, and cheerleading. The Walters live in the Glade Community and attend Life Church. Jan's hobbies include playing tennis, cross-stitching, reading and family time.

Mary Ann - Financial Coordinator - has been employed with our office since May of 1979. She never grows tired of helping patients achieve their needs. Mary Ann and her son Chad live in the Springhill Community. She attends Salem Heights Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, home projects and spending time with family and friends.

Rosie - Financial Coordinator - has been employed with us since August of 2000. She has been married to Hooky Pitts for 35 years. They have two sons, Robbie and Billy. Robbie is married to Angela Jernigan and they live in Mobile with their three daughters, Emma, Hannah and Isabelle. Billy is engaged to be married to Erin Lazarus and they will live in Sharon. Rosie is an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and School. When not visiting their granddaughters, Rosie and Hooky can be found at the lake fishing, their most favorite past time.

Pam - Clinical Assistant - has been part of our team for over 20 years. She strongly believes in helping her patients feel more confident about their smile and dental health. Pam lives in Laurel with her husband, Todd and their son, Wyatt. They attend Shady Grove Baptist Church. Her interests include scrapbooking, antiques, traveling and cooking.

Robin - Clinical Assistant - is in her 7th year with us. She is married to Dee Wood and they have one son, Lyle. Robin has grown up in our practice starting as a patient at age 4 and developed an ambition to one day be a part of our team. Besides functioning as a clinical assisitant, she coordinates all of the ordering of our supplies. Robin will light up your day; she loves to make people laugh. If you are in need of an anti-depressant, she is your prescription.

Connie - Clinical Assistant - has been with us for over 20 years. She is married to Scott Matheny and they have two children, Will and Bailee. They attend Westminster Presbyterian Church where she enjoys singing in the choir. Connie strongly believes in helping her patients feel more confident about their smiles and dental health. She loves smiles and humor. We are sure you have heard her laugh at least once throughout the office! Gardening is her favorite hobby; but she enjoys anything outdoors.
